About Ginormous News
I wanted to be more informed. I signed up to countless news apps, turned on all the push notifications, and constantly trawled Google News and other aggregators. And yet, I still felt lost. Friends would ask me about current events I completely missed, and political happenings I had no idea about.
The straw that broke the camel’s back came when a friend asked me about the conflict in the Congo. I had no idea of the problems there. The media I consumed simply did not cover this issue, even though it is extremely pressing and of major global consequence.
This got me thinking, what other blind spots might I have? At the time, despite my best efforts, I consumed primarily American media due to language and access barriers. I was not getting the full global picture. I wanted news from everywhere around the world; analyzed, aggregated, and distilled into an easy to read daily briefing.
That’s when I decided to build Ginormous News.
I have set up AI agents to listen to 20+ radio stations from around the world 24 hours a day, and extract interesting events that may be of global significance. These agents then aggregate, combine, and create stories from each of these events, finally delivering news stories heavily supported by direct quotes from the original radio broadcast.
Through this, Ginormous News is able to break through linguistic and geographic barriers, and get the news of greatest importance to the entire world, not just any one given country. Through the combining of many different points of view, we can come closer to the truth.
